Dual Nationality Case – Eleven Members of Parliament and Senate Disqualified

Dual Nationality Case

Supreme Court of Pakistan gave a historic decision yesterday on dual nationality case and disqualified eleven members of Parliament and Senate including Rahman Malik. This decision is much appreciated by all walks of life in Pakistan except Peoples Party. There is nothing special about that. They will criticize the judges and their decision on one hand then on the other hand they will say we always respect the apex court and its decisions. Samsaam Bukhari, a state minister in the PPP government said they (meaning PPP is not satisfied with this decision). Funny thing is that having or keeping dual nationality is prohibited in the Constitution of Pakistan. But nobody challenged it in the … [Continue reading]

New Law on Contempt of Court

New Law on Contempt of Court

Primarily the purpose of this new law is to save and protect Raja Pervez Ashraf by trying to divert the attention of Supreme Court or indulge it to other issues which will end up delaying the case of Raja Pervez Asharf. In the end, buying time till election. Obviously, PPP don’t want to write the letter and these are all their delaying tactics. This is how our politicians’ character is. So if the country is going down the hill it should not surprise you. Basically, according to this new law, what we are saying is that if the government read prime minister and his cronies  don’t write the letter to Swiss authorities then it will not be a contempt of court. If Supreme Court still take any … [Continue reading]

Malik Riyaz in The Supreme Court

Malik Riyaz in The Supreme Court

A week ago Malik Riyaz stated in the Supreme Court that he met with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary at his request during the time when Chief Justice was inactivated from his post and a movement was going on to re-instate him. Malik Riyaz further stated that he helped the movement whatever way he could. I read his statement as, he invested money to help them to achieve the movement's objectives with the belief he would get some benefit later. If this is true then Chief Justice along with Aitazaz Ahsan and Ali Ahmed Kurd should be asked what Malik Riyaz's contribution to the movement was? Another person who really got the benefit of the return of Chief Justices is Nawaz Sharif … [Continue reading]

Continued Killings in Karachi

Continue killings in pakistan

Who is responsible to stop these killings? Sindh Government with out any doubt. Both, federal and provincial governments have failed to provide any peace in Karachi. Whether they are target killings or criminal killings the government is responsible to provide protection to civilians of their life and property. Apparently, nothing is happening to stop this bloodshed.  It seems this bloodshed has been accepted as a norm. Nobody is doing anything. Our men of opinion once in a while speak out but nothing more than that. Ordinary citizens are already demoralized.  Supreme Court also conducted a session here in Karachi without any benefit. Just show business. Our TV channels only give us … [Continue reading]

Seven Persons Have Died During Doctors’ Strike

Doctors strike

News say seven persons have died during the strike of young doctors in Punjab. TV news anchors along with Khadim-e-Aala are blaming doctors for these deaths. What a logic.  Khadim-e-Aala has arranged to employ some new doctors. Also, they have requested Army to send some doctors to serve in the government hospitals . That is good. The question is Chief Minister did not know that due to doctors' strike some unpleasant incidents like deaths will happen.  Then why he did not put his action plan into motion immediately. Why he is blaming doctors now of these deaths. A case has also been registered against doctors for death of a child. We don't know any doctor is named in the FIR or doctors … [Continue reading]

Should The Doctors Have Right to Strike?

Should The Doctors Have Right to Strike

The answer is Yes. It is not the question of serving humanity as TV news channels and their anchors are portraying doctors committing crime against the humanity. Basically, any civilian citizen must have the right to negotiate his terms of employment. You can agree or disagree with those demands but they must have the right.  Doctors should not be any exception. This is a total inability and failure of the Punjab government not able to settle down the issues on the table. This is also not appropriate for the TV news anchors to pass their personal comments and portray the doctors strike as a crime or action against the people’s sufferings. Why the striking doctors are only responsible … [Continue reading]
