Nawaz Sharif in Power
Nawaz Sharif has come into power. This is bad news for Pervez Musharraf.
Nawaz Sharif at the helm of power and Inftikhar Mohammad Chaudary as Chief Justice what else combination could be well aligned for Nawaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif to take his revenge.
Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudary is going to retire probably by the end of this year so the chances are the cases against Pervez Musharraf will be expedited.
Nawaz Sharif and Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudary
Nawaz Sharif has come into power. All the credit goes to Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudary, Chief Justice of Pakistan Supreme Court. If he has not cleared him from all the charges for which he was sentenced for life then he will not be here where he is today. Nawaz Sharif should also be thankful to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia for saving him from the punishment. Though, the King is still not happy with him because he broke his confidence and lied to him.
There is no doubt Nawaz Sahrif lied when he said he did not have any agreement with government of Pakistan to go into exile and he will not participate in Pakistani politics for ten years. But our Supreme Court is quite flexible and Election Commission of Pakistan cleared him. This called authority of the courts.
Can anybody get the decision of his choice?
You make your own judgment. You also have the authority to make your own mind.
Did Money Work In Lahore?
Rumors say money has changed hands during elections in Punjab province to achieve the desired results. The people who support these rumors say they know for fact they and the people known to them have voted for PTI but the results went in favor of Nawaz Sharif. They claim this the magic of money.
This is the responsibility of investigative journalists to find out the truth. The opposition parties should take the ball from there and go to courts and see if the courts can deliver the justice. Even if the courts do not care about that they should present the facts to the people. They will know the truth. If we want the democracy to continue then we have to do more investigative work and be more vigilant.
Will the media do their job? We have to wait and see.
Start of Election Campaign – Nawaz Sharif’s Speech in Qasur.
Today Nawaz Sharif started his election campaign from Qasur. In his first speech he said the person who expelled him from Pakistan today he is in jail. Obviously, he was talking about Pervez Musharraf.
Then he said the person who accused and charged him with terrorism today he is accused and charged with terrorism.
Let us analyze these two statements.
Nawaz Sharif was expelled or he made an agreement with Government of Pakistan (represented by the President of Pakistan) through King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia to go in exile.
Why Nawaz Sharif lies?
Because he knows he can get by with it in the court of law and or election tribunal court.
How he got by these lies? That is question you should ask yourself. What magic he has?
When Nawaz Sharif submitted his nomination papers, one of his opponents raised an objection that Nawaz Sharif lied when he said he has no agreement with Government of Pakistan when he left Pakistan for Saudi Arabia so he does not qualify under Article 62 and 63 for elections. But the Returning Officer did not accept that objection and cleared Nawaz Sharif as an honest person.
Everybody knows about that agreement. Once Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia came and showed the copy of that agreement in a press conference in Pakistan In other words Nawaz Sharif did not lie.
What is the definition of lies in the eyes of a Court of Law, Returning Officer and Election Tribunal? You make your own judgment.
This reflect the administrative inability of Chief Election Commissioner Fakharudddin G. Ibrahim who is normally considered an honest person. But there is a hell lot of difference between honesty and capability. Our political parties agreed on Fakharuddin G. Ibrahim’s name as Chief Election Commissioner because they knew he is weak (which give them benefit) but since he is considered honest so people will accept his name.
Blank Box on The Ballot Paper
Election Commission of Pakistan has announced that there will be a blank box without any candidate’s name or election sign. The voter will have the option if he thinks none of the candidate is suitable for the job he can stamp on the blank box.
That is a good move. Election Commission also said if fifty percent of the people who voted in that constituency stamped on blank box then the election will be considered void. That is also a good move.
There is a need to extrapolate this practice at the national or political party level.
This election is not going to change much but Dr. Tahirul Qadri has created some awareness among the voters about the corrupt politicians and political system in Pakistan. Our political leaders particularly Nawaz Sharif ridiculed him.
Election Commission of Pakistan’s Miracles
According to the news appeared in the print and electronic media, Election Commission of Pakistan received 12,890 nomination papers for different positions of National and Provisional Assemblies at the close of the date and time (March 31, 2013 12:00 midnight) given for the submission.
In less than 24 hours Election Commission of Pakistan announced that they have scrutinized 4,864 papers and found acceptable. Is it not a miracle?
That also raises a lot of questions about the working of Election Commission of Pakistan.
Badam Zari of FATA
Badam Zari is a house wife in a remote area Arang of FATA. She has submitted her nomination papers for standing in the elections for national parliament. We salute Badam Zari for her courage to come out and fight for the people of FATA. That is the type of people we need to come out. Obviously, she will face a lot of hurdles but this is the responsibility of our media and political leadership to give her full support. We particularly expect Imran Khan (PTI) to at least give her full moral support and help her to get elected. She is the real person for real cause. Our media goes for hype like they created hype for Malala. What Malala has done for the country or for the people of her area other than getting a couple of gun shots from Taliban. There are thousands of people who were killed by Taliban nobody talked about that. Unfortunately, our TV Channels are more interested in making money by doing anything which increases their viewership.
Badam Zari is the woman who needs our support.
Next parliament must gave the FATA a separate provincial status so that they have their own assembly to solve their own problem.
Stop ruling them. Let them rule themselves. That is the only way forward for the progress of these remote and unfortunately backward areas.
Nomination Papers Submittal Date Extended
Today March 31, 2013 is the last date to submit the nomination papers for 2013 elections. This date was extended for two days from the previous date. General impression is this was done to give the chance to prospective contenders to get the bills and dues cleared before submitting their nomination papers. This may be correct.
But the insiders say this was done to facilitate the political parties to give them more time to decide about their candidate to submit their papers from which constituency.
Would you call this is a fair practice? Absolutely NOT.
Do the political parties have any influence on the working of Election Commission? What does it show you.
Did any political party or anybody for that matter asked to assign more days for scrutinizing the eligibility of contenders except Dr. Tahirul Qadri. He went to Supreme Court also to get this thing implemented but Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary, Chief Justice did not like his idea and through him out the Court.

Breaking News – Najam Sethi Asked Nawaz Sharif for PMLN Ticket
Can Najam Sethi be a neutral care-taker Chief Minister of Punjab?
Do Najam Sethi supports PMNL’s Agenda?
This is a breaking news released by one his own professional colleague.
Shaheen Sehbai of Jang newspaper stated in a program ‘Sawal Yeh Hey’ at ARY News channel that Najam Sethi and his wife met Nawas Sharif three times to get PMLN ticket to stand in the upcoming elections. Nawaz Sharif did not think Najam Sethi is electable so he refused to give him the party ticket for election. When Zardari learned about that he proposed Najam Sethi’s name as care taker chief minister. Now Nawaz Sharif was facing a dilemma. He knew Najam Sethi is pro PML-N but in his opinion Najam Sethi is not electable. So he accepted Najam Sethi’s name as care taker chief minister. Probably Zardari thought Najam Sethi may be pro PML-N but he is wise enough not favor him for future reputation. Zardari may have offered him some future position. We don’t know.
Another thing is very strange. Najam Sethi is more like a secular minded person how he went to Nawaz Sharif to get a PMlN ticket when PMLN is purely a rightest party. Nawaz Sharif has condemned suicide bombs attacks but he never condemned Taliban even they have accepted the responsibility.
The question is, does Najam Sethi supports now Nawaz Sharif’s rightest agenda. Only Najam Sethi can answer this question. Irfan Siddiqui another columnist who writes a column in Jang newspaper he has mentioned in his column, his son who is a banker in Dubai stated his observation that Najam Sethi has shown more balanced or neutral view point towards political parties in his TV program.
Was there something cooking behind the scene which we did not know? For sure.
Or did Zardari sent Najam Sethi to Nawaz Sharif to ask for PMLN ticket. We don’t know but may be.

Will The Elections Take Place – Asks Fakharuddin G. Ibrahim
Shaheen Sehbai of Jang Newspaper stated in a TV program ‘Sawal Yeh Hey’ at ARY News channel that there was a function in Karachi where Najam Sethi was also a speaker. After the speech there was a time for questions and answers. A person stood up and asked a question to Najam Sethi, what do you think, were there going to be elections in Pakistan?
Do you know who was that person?
That person was Fakharuddin G. Ibrahim, Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan. The person who is responsible to manage and conduct the elections in Pakistan. And he is asking other people what they think whether the elections will take place or not.
Do you think this 87 years old person is capable to conduct the elections and have the stamina to do such strenuous job? He may be an honest person but is he capable (mental as well as physical) to do this job. This may be another conclusion (muk muka) among the major parties that appoint a person who is honest so nobody says anything against him but physically weak so he cannot conduct the elections professionally.
