Saulat Mirza is Going to be Hanged on May 12, 2015?

We don’t know.

Chaudary Nisar is quoted as saying that JIT (Joint Investigation Team) report has been completed and there is no further need of his statement.

Should we believe him? We don’t know either.

If ISPR has made this statement it will be more credible. Earlier it was stated that Saulat Mirza has said again the same things he said earlier in a video. PPP, PMLN and MQM, their leadship and supporter TV anchors started raising this question how and when this video was filmed of a convicted person.

Saulat Mirza’s connection with MQM has been well demonstrated in the TV news and talk shows. Nobody, as of today, has said what about those people who were behind this murder who gave the instructions and who wanted to get this murder done. Nobody said the action should be taken against those people.

MQM would definitely like Saulat Mirza be hanged as soon as poosible so that if anything comes up after his death then it would not be possible to substaniate with his statement in the court.

How MQM’s desire can be fullfilled? Asif Zaradri is there. Asif Zardari is a staunch supported of MQM. If you remember he is one those leaders who condemned the Rangers’s raid on 90, MQM’s headquarter in Pakistan. You know what Rangers found over there. No need to repeat that. In other words, can we say Asif Zardari is supporter of crimanls? You make your decision.

Saulat Mirza’s wife filed a petition in Sind High Court that his case should be re-open and the people who were behind this murder case also be punished.  The court has dismissed her petition.

Asif Zardari can persuade Nawaz Sharif to get this thing done as soon as possible. That soon may be May 12, 2015.

Zardari and Nawaz Sharif are the two sides of the same coin. Shaikh Rasheed (Pakistan Awami League) once said they are both insurnce policy of each other. When Imran Khan’s dharna was in session in Islamabad Zaradri sent a loud message to Nawaz Sharif “be careful lest we both end up in jail”, these were Zaradri’s words.

In this situation to whom you will trust.

One thing we want to clearily Saulat Mirza should get the punshiment of his deed but the people behind this nurder also be punished with the same force.

Military Courts, Supreme Court and Maulana Fazalur Rahman

JUI, Fazalur Rahman, maulana fazalur rahman Maulana Fazalur Rahman has proposed that in 21st amendment of the constitution provisions should be made that decisions of the military courts can be appealed in the supreme court.

This is equal to negating the efforts of military courts. If the supreme court is able to do something worth while then we will not need the proposed military courts.

Nawaz Sharif has tried to pacify Asif Zardari and Altaf Hussain by including the clause that central government will decide which case should be referred to military courts. They bought the idea since it is for two years and hopefully situation will not arise against them. But Maulana Fazalur Rahman will not buy this assurance since the people believe these terrorists use religion for their terrorist activities.

What will happen next? Wait and see. Nawaz Sharif has assigned this job to Ishaq Dar and Pervez Rasheed to convince Maulana Fazalur Rahman. Jamat-e-Islami is also saying they will not vote in favor. Is the amendment going to be approved? Probably it will be. Tomorrow? This question is still there. The national assembly meeting may be postponed once again.

Who is Going to be the Next Chief Election Commissioner?

It does not make any difference who is going to be the next chief election commissioner. The present poor rather corrupt performance of the election commission will continue.

Why?

Here is the reason. When you want to construct a bridge you get a civil engineer for the job. When you need to keep a close eye on your cash flow you assign the job to an accountant. When you want to build machinery you get a mechanical engineer. When you will put an accountant in place of a civil engineer you know what will happen.

Conducting election is a project management type job. You need an administrator with strong project management skills. Every professional mentioned above have necessary education, training and experience. A judge has the education in law and have the experience in the use and interpretation of different clauses and articles of law. That is what he has been doing all along his career. What he knows about project management or administration.

Because our system of governance is so corrupted our decision makers think they need an honest person for conducting the election. To get the job done you need a professional and to circumvent the corruption you need a strong system with strong checks and balances. None of them exists in our present election system.

Do you think an honest accountant can do the job of a civil engineer. Just because he is honest. Honesty has nothing to do with the professional knowledge and experience. Assigning, selecting or electing or nominating a judge as election commissioner will not any good to the election system.

We all have seen what the judge who worked as chief election commissioner previously has delivered. He may be honest but he did not have the management skills.

Our politicians are making that mistake again by putting a judge for the job of chief election commissioner. Some one can say this is what is written in the constitution. Who designed the constitution, the same politicians.

One more idea may be Zardari (PPP) and Nawaz Sharif (PMLN) know better than us how to manipulate the election results so they agree to put this requirement in the constitution. An old retired judge (preferably 70+ years) who don’t have energy left for anything best suits them as chief election commissioner.

Why People Party Don’t Support Imran Khan?

Asif-ali-zardariIf you recall sometime back Nawaz Sahrif asked NAB (National Bureau of Accountability) to send him files of all the cases against Asif Ali Zardari, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Raja Pervez Ashraf and other PPP leaders. Immediately after that Khursheed Shah (PPP) leader of the opposition in the parliament and other PPP leaders in the province of Sind issued statements to support the protest right of Imran Khan and Dr. Tahirul Qadari. Though the statements were not strong but the purpose was to send a signal to Nawaz Sharif that this is what will happen.

Nawaz Sharif refrain himself to move further.

Now probably PPP is given assurance their cases in NAB will not be pursued so PPP has started supporting openly to Nawaz Sharif and his government and start criticizing Imran Khan.

Zardari and PPP know about his corruption deeds during his tenure. They also know if Imran Khan came to power they will not be spared. So at any cost they would like to save this system and keep it un-touched. That is why they tell you they support the constitution and the so called democracy need to be protected.

All those political parties who get the benefit from the present system which is a product of the present constitution do not want to change it.

GEO TV channel supports Nawaz Sharif and similar forces who want to keep the status quo. Unfortunately, some of the TV anchors do not understand that constitution is there to serve the people of Pakistan not the other way round.

Some of our political leaders also due to their personal interests they support the status quo. Others due to their ignorance.

Now you can see where the present political movements stand and where Imran Khan wants take Pakistan.

It is a long journey but if the determination is there caravan can reach to its destination.

Can The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari Be Prosecuted?

Asif-Ali-Zardari-Be-Prosecuted

Aitzaz Ahsan and some other people who call themselves experts say that president Asif Ali Zardari can not be prosecuted while he is in the office.

It may be right, it may not be right. That is not the question.
The question is there are all indications and many people who are in the know said very openly that there were solid evidences against in the money laundering case in UK, SGS bribery case in Switzerland and misconduct in the food for oil case in Spain. So after that did Asif Ali Zardari has any moral ground to hold such a high office?

These were the cases which were outside Pakistan. There were many cases within Pakistan. A long list of those allegations are listed in the NRO List issued by the PPP government.

Meeting of Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif

Meeting-of-Asif-Ali-Zardari-and-Nawaz-Sharif

Today both of these leaders are going to meet.

Agenda: For the meeting – nothing. Both have hidden agendas.

Purpose: Zardari wants Nawaz Sharif’s support to get the NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) passed in the parliament and senate to legitimize all the wrong doings (mostly financial) of the politicians. Politicians of both parties are beneficiaries of this bill. At that time Benzir Butto was in the picture as main beneficiary. After her death Asif Ali Zardari got the benefit of his wife plus his own share. So he got double benefit.

A case against NRO is already in the Supreme Court. Zardari is afraid of Iftikhar Mohd Chaudary he may give the decision against NRO then the whole structure of present civil government will collapse, a big problem for PPP. PPP don’t have the capability to survive this shock.

Nawaz Sharif captured this an opportunity to pressurize Zardari to accept his agenda. Nawaz Sharif thinks if the case stays in the Supreme Court he would get a favorable decision that will go against Zardari. So Nawaz Sharif insists the NRO should not be presented to Parliament and Senate. On the other hand Zardari believes he will get the NRO god fathered easily (comparatively) in the parliament. So both leaders have their own agendas.

There is a third stack holder in this equation. That is USA, the main proponent of NRO. When the Pakistani media excited the people against Pervaiz Musharraf and created panic among the Pakistanis. There were some charges against Iftikhar Mohd Chaudary. So he started taking revenge by running his own government within a government by issuing suo motto orders against the government officials. Rest is history.

America was concerned mainly about Afghanistan war and extremism in Pakistan which according to America helping Taliban in Afghanistan. This was the picture at that time.

In this back ground America came up with the solution that keep Pervaiz Musharaf as president and let all the corruption cases against Zardari and Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif family be made null and void. S.M. Zafar the other day mentioned in a TV program that besides America, UK, Saudi Arabia and UAE were involved in this NRO deal.

PPP came to power but so far have not been able to get a handle on the problems. They have a lame duck prime minister. Dead parliament. Ineffective government bureaucracy. Highest corruption. No planning. Law and order out of control. No water no electricity. Extremists are running the country. Zardari has all the powers but no credibility.

Now there are people within the parliament and outside the parliament (people of opinion) who believes Zardari already don’t have the credibility if the parliament rubber stamp the NRO then parliament will also lose the credibility. In any situation Nawaz Sharif and other opposition parties will get the benefit no matter what the outcome is of NRO.

But the third stack holder do care about the outcome. America knows if NRO did not go through (what ever way) the present civil government will fall apart. And there agenda to fight Taliban in Afghanistan will suffer.

When all this turmoil was going on here in Pakistan, Kerry-Lugar bill got approved. Earlier it was Biden-Lugar bill but when Biden became vice president John Kerry took over as replacement proponent. First time in the history of Pakistan Army openly criticized a civil government on accepting such a deal. To cool the matters down John Kerry came to Pakistan and he had meetings with Army Chief and Chief of Army Staff. He also met Nawaz Sharif and only as a courtesy he also met president and prime minister. But his main target were Army Chief and Nawaz Sharif to mustard the support for Zardari.

Next week Hillary Clinton is visiting Pakistan. Main purpose is to put pressure on political actors to concentrate on American agenda of Afghanistan war rather than get tangled in NRO and related issues. So what I think is NRO will go to back burner for the time being.

There is a news that within the Parliament Committee which is reviewing the NRO bill majority of the members do not approve the bill. So the rumor says that Zardari/Yousaf are planning to change the members of the Committee.

Nawaz Sharif, Asif Zardari and Iftikhar Chaudary – Head-On Collision?

Nawaz-Sharif-Asif-Zardari-and-Iftikhar-ChaudaryAre they going to have a head-on collision. It seems so. Let us see what are their problems and how possibly they are going to tackle. Nawaz Sharif During the previous elections Nawaz Sharif had made very inflamed speeches against Pervez Musharraf. One of the issues he raised against Pervez Musharraf was removal of Iftikhar Chaudary then the chief justice of Pakistan supreme court.

Nawaz Sharif and other politicians including PPP they did not have and still don’t have any action plan for the development of the country so they look for such things on which they can create a sort of agitation and gather the people and get votes. All these politicians use the same strategy. Basically they highlight an issue and present themselves as a solution. Nawaz Sharif promised in a big way that if PML-N came to power they will re-instate Iftikhar Chaudary along with other judges. After showing his first success of removing the president then came the second thing to re-instate the judges which seems now a stumbling block. Nawaz Sharif wants to bring back Iftikhar Chaudary to achieve his own motives namely to get himself entitled to participate in the elections, and get decisions against Pervez Musharraf in future cases which may be brought in the supreme court later. This is to pacify his revenge. Asif Zardari Asif Zardari as such was not very interested in removing the president but when he saw the wind direction he joined the mob. Now comes the re-reinstatement of judges. Like any other Pakistani politician he looked for his personal benefit first.

Though he was not very enthusiastic but he did not mind to join others to become champion of democracy. Zardari particularly did not want Iftikhar Chaudary to come back. He believes Iftikhar Chaudary is responsible for his extended stay in jail. Since Zardari has a enmity with Chaudary so he believes Iftikhar Chaudary may give a decision to void the NRO against which it became possible for Zardari, Shahbaz Sharif and others to participate in the politics. Zardari is not worried about Sharif or others but he is worried about himself. That is why you had heard before re-reinstatement of judges minus one or minus two etc. Now it seems Zardari has stuck. Nawaz Sharif wants to bring Iftikhar Chaudary back for his own purposes and Zardari don’t want him because of his own concerns.

Iftikhar Chaudary – The Man in the Dispute After getting out of the supreme court Iftikhar Chaudary participated very actively in anti-Musharraf rallies, political processions practically everything where he could blast against Musharraf. So he became a symbol of anti-Musharraf movement. When political parties saw this opportunity then Nawaz Sharif being the best opportunist grabbed the opportunity and joined them. Sharif got best of the both worlds, person who is anti-Musharraf and he can gather big mobs. Iftikhar Chaudary looked more like a politician then a displaced supreme court judge. Other supreme court judges like Khalil Ramday, Bhagwan Das and may be others associated themselves with different political views. So now politicians support the judges according to their mind affiliations and their political views. What is Next? Any solution to this pollution? Zardari needs Nawaz Sharif to keep his PPP in the government. On the other hand Nawaz Sharif has an upper hand at present. Zardari may lose the government, Sharif will not lose anything. In fact it will give boost to the popularity of Sharif. Zardari may seek support of other parties to stay in power against some other deals.

This is the first issue they have faced and the cracks started appearing. There would definitely be more. Still both coalition partners are not agreed what procedure will be adapted to re-instate the judges, if they are going to re-instate. A couple of possibilities. They may cut a deal with Iftikhar Chaudary that he will not give a verdict against Asif Zardari and not participate in the cancellation of NRO if it comes in the court. Iftikhar Chaudary may go back to his previous position but after a specified period he will be retired or he would resign.

Obviously these types of deals will not be made public so it is your imagination what you can think about other possibilities. Are we heading towards fresh elections? May be too early to say but definitely we are heading with a faster speed towards head-on collisions. This is the first one. More to come.
